Today is the first day of fall for Pumpkin Spice Latte lovers
Why wait for the fall equinox and chilly days to start indulging in the flavors of fall?
September 1st, according to Starbucks, is the new unofficial start of fall – marked by the release of their ever-popular, sugar-laden Pumpkin Spice Latte.
We won’t lie. Back in the day, we were both know to cave into the “PSL” craving at the slightest of fall breezes or the sound of leaves crunching under foot. That is, until we found the power of real food and realized what that seemingly harmless PSL really contained.
A 16oz (Grande) Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte packs 380 calories and 52 grams of carbohydrates – 50 of those coming from sugar!
In search of a real food Pumpkin Spice Latte that screams fall without the sugar crash
We already love our Gut-Healing Cinnamon Coconut Latte for its creamy, caffeinated, blood sugar balancing goodness so we knew we needed to add a Pumpkin Spice Latte to our real food line-up. I mean, seriously, fall wouldn’t be fall without pumpkin and spice (and caffeine).
One of the biggest benefits of crafting your own PSL is that you can control the sugar and use delicious, healthy fats to make it creamy without dairy. You’ll also be saving yourself almost $5 by making your own and when you add a scoop of our favorite collagen peptides you’ll boost the protein and satiety factor significantly. Woot! Real Food PSL for the win!!
Adding collagen peptides to this Gut-Healing Pumpkin Spice Latte adds quite a nutritional punch.
Collagen is the most common type of protein in the body. As we age, our production of collagen slows down which is why we recommend 2-3 tablespoons (1-2 scoops) per day of collagen. Blending collagen into this recipe is an easy and tasty way for you to up your daily intake. Vital Proteins collagen peptides provides protein and amino acids that support healthy skin, hair, nails and optimal digestive function. You can read more here on why we think collagen is so great.
